We have two charming holiday apartments in a charming old town called
Lourmarin in the foothills of the Luberon Mountains in Provence, in
the South
of France. In most maps the town is not actually marked, although Cadenet
some 3km distant, is usually indicated. We are approximately 45 minutes
drive from both Aix and Avignon, and we have within the range of a
30 minute drive such towns as Bonnieux, Lacoste and Gordes. You may
have
read Peter Mayle's books "A Year in Provence" and "Toujours
Provence", and perhaps you also followed the television series
of the first book. That series was shot partly in the town of Lourmarin.
The two storey accommodation has two double bedrooms on the upper
level, one with a double bed and one with two single beds, a shower
room and separate w.c. Downstairs are situated the living-room/kitchenette
leading out to a private terrace. This provides a pleasant, private
outdoor eating or sunning/reading area in the summer months.
The kitchenette
is fully equipped. The house is fresh and clean, light and airy, and
is furnished and decorated in a simple but comfortable, contemporary
style. You should not need to take anything with you, the house being
fully equipped for our own family's, and we would hope, most people's
needs. We provide a music centre, books & games. We should point
out however that there is neither telephone nor television. . ( The
nearest public phone is just a few seconds away in the main square.)
We ourselves are only able to use our accommodation periodically
throughout the year, for vacation purposes. Occasionally our friends
and relatives
go down. Ideally we would like to see it used more (by people who would
be sympathetic to it, and to the area in general).
